Cops rescue Malaysian kidnapped in PH while meeting a guy on dating app

A Malaysian woman who thought she found her "the one" through a dating app ended up being a victim of a kidnap-for-ransom in Carmona, Cavite.

Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the woman flew from Malaysia to meet a guy named Jerry whom she met in a dating app.

"She arrived in Manila on Monday (Sept. 12) where she was met at the airport by a Chinese man who took her to Carmona, Cavite where she was detained," said Azurin.

It was then that the suspects forced the victim to send messages to the family of the Malaysian to demand 26,000.00 Malaysian Ringgit (P300,000.00) in exchange for her release, according to Azurin.

Unknown to the suspects, the victim discreetly sent descriptions of her captors and the vehicle used by the suspects when she was picked at the airport.

"With these information, operatives of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group and Aviation Security Group launched the rescue and freed the victim while two suspects were arrested," said Azurin.

Police then raided the safehouse of the suspects which resulted in the arrest of Justine Alaraz, 28; and, Malaysian Chan Yong Howe, 29.

The arrested suspects were presented by Interior Sec. Benhur Abalos at Camp Crame on Tuesday night, Sept. 13.
