As a reward for its excellent public service and dedication in serving the community, all employees of the Makati City local government will receive a performance-based bonus (PBB) from the national government, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay announced Wednesday, Sept. 14.
This makes the city the lone local government unit (LGU) in Metro Manila to receive the said monetary reward.
“The performance-based bonus for City Hall employees is well-deserved. This is a nod to our hardworking and dedicated public servants who have always put the interests of our constituents first. I am proud of what we have achieved and I am confident that we will continue to do our best to serve the people of Makati,” Binay said.
“This is a strong validation of our efforts to promote clean, honest, and efficient government. We will continue to uphold these values as we work towards making Makati an inclusive, livable, and sustainable city for all,” she added.
The PBB is a top-up bonus given to employees based on their contribution to the achievement of the LGU’s targets and commitments for the fiscal year. It was introduced in 2012 to reward and encourage exemplary performance among public servants.
According to the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Government Performance Monitoring, Information, and Reporting Systems, a total of 366 LGUs nationwide are eligible to receive the PBB for fiscal year 2021. Agencies, departments, and LGUs are judged based on four dimensions of accountability: Performance Results, Process Results, Financial Results, and Citizen/Client Satisfaction Results.
The national government said the LGU must attain a total score of at least 70 points, and achieve at least a rating of four for at least three criteria based on the PBB scoring system to qualify for the grant,
The PBB is given yearly to eligible departments, agencies, and LGUs in the country. The Unified Reporting System (URS) - generated Budget and Financial Accountability Reports (BFARs) are used to monitor and validate LGU accomplishments. The reports must be submitted within thirty days after the end of each quarter.
The city government previously launched its Lingkod Bayan Caravan program aimed at bringing the different services of the government to its residents in the barangay level.
Every Saturday, employees and officials of the city government visit different barangays to provide free medical, legal, and social assistance to their constituents to make it easier for them to avail of such services.
The caravan is also a one-stop-shop for the filing of necessary documents of Makatizens such as Birth Certificates and Death Certificates.
It also provides veterinary services to all pet owners in Makati.
