ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Police rescued 43 foreign nationals employed but detained in a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) here on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
A Chinese national, Chen Ben, alias “Ayi,” 33, human resources officer of POGO Lucky South 99 and staying at KOA Resort, Clark, this province, was arrested by authorities during the rescue operation.
Police Regional Office-3 director Police Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen said that the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group rescued an alleged victim, Wu Jia Ming, a man, together with 42 other foreign nationals, at the Lucky South 99 on Fil-Am Friendship Highway.
The operation stemmed from information received by the AKG that foreign nationals are being employed but detained in a POGO in the area.
Pasiwen said that the suspect and rescued foreign nationals were taken to the AKG headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City for documentation and proper disposition.
“This is another feather in the cap for the PNP as all police units are working together to thwart all forms of lawlessness in the country. It only goes to show that our continuous intensified intelligence gathering to diminish lawlessness including victimizing of foreigners pay off,” Pasiwen added.
