Korean actor Lee Jung-jae won his first-ever Emmy award through Netflix’s hit series “Squid Game,” which bagged a total of six.
Lee Jung-jae, 49, took home the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award for “Squid Game” at the 74th Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 12 (Sept. 13 in the Philippines).

In winning the award, he beat Jason Bateman of “Ozark,” Brian Cox of “Succession,” Bob Odenkirk of “Better,” Adam Scott of “Severance” and Jeremy Strong of “Succession.”
Lee Jung-jae previously won best actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and 27th Critics' Choice Awards for “Squid Game.”
In addition, Hwang Dong-hyuk won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the first episode of “Squid Game” titled “Red Light, Green Light.”
He edged out Jason Bateman for “Ozark,” Ben Stiller for “Severance,” Mark Mylod, Cathy Yan and Lorene Scafaria for “Succession” and Karyn Kusama for “Yellowjackets.”
In total, “Squid Game” won six out of its 14 nominations at the Emmy Awards.
At the 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards held last Sept. 4, "Squid Game" won four. Actress Lee Yoo-mi won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series.
“Squid Game” also won Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Single Episode, Outstanding Stunt Performance and Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour Or More).
