Iligan City promotes amazing ‘Sikyop’ tourists destinations

ILIGAN CITY -- The Iligan tourism office conducted a familiarization tour at Sikyop Agri-tourism adventure at Lawlawon, Rogongon here on Sept. 8, 2022 in its effort to promote tourists destinations in the city.

Some participants from the travel and tour agencies and media practitioners joined in the activity in line with the City's Diyandi month-long celebration of the feast of St. Michaels the Archangel.

Tourism Operations Officer Pat Noel said the familiarization tour is aimed at showcasing to the public the beautiful and exciting Sikyop, especially to those who love outdoor adventures.

The group visited four exciting views, namely, the Sikyop Tree Top in which the tourists/visitors can spend the night at Higaonon huts surrounding a bonfire area, Inulusan Cave, the majestic Pagangon falls and the magnificent Underground river.

Sikyop has a lot more to offer, including fresh food through organic produce like vegetables and bananas.

The rainforests of Sikyop are home to nearly 100 species of trees. Wild versions of orchids as well as the expected sloths can be found while venturing into the Sikyop rainforest depths.

One can visit the untouched, remote rainforests on the Malizord Wild Forest at Sikyop.

A tourist from Angeles City, Pampanga who came all the way from Camiguin, said he was amazed to witness the beauty of Sikyop.

"Sobrang saya, it is recommended, dapat malaman ng buong Pilipinas na may magandang lugar diyan sa baba (pointing down to Pagangon Falls), sobrang ganda po (It’s full of fun, it is recommended; the whole country should know that there is nice place there [pointing down to Pagangon Falls). It’s amazing),” said Jong David De Leon in an interview.

The city tourism office is looking forward to the partnership between the tour and travel operators in the promotions of destinations in our beloved city, added Noel.
