DOTr inspects P977.9-M Sangley Airport project


Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista inspected the P977.9-million Sangley Airport over the weekend.

First, he inspected the completed P515 million Phase 1 of the Sangley Airport Development Project, one of the Duterte administration’s key initiatives under its "Build, Build, Build" Program.

President Rodrigo Duterte inaugurated the first phase of the Sangley Airport in February 15, 2020.

The project involved the construction of hangars, passenger terminal building, maintenance building, and powerhouse, as well as runway asphalt overlay and runway shoulder grade correction.

DOTr Secretary Bautista also inspected the ongoing P462.9 million Sangley Airport Development Phase II, which began on March 25, 2022 and is set to be completed by May 20, 2023.

Phase II includes the construction of two more hangars, pump stations, sheet piling works, airside strip development, reclamation works and drainage works.

The DOTr Secretary conducted the inspection together with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Acting Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo and DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim.
