Zubiri pledged P250 million for medical equipment of the five-story Level 2 hospital during the recent groundbreaking ceremony.

While there are already a number of tertiary hospitals in Iloilo City, Zubiri pointed out that most are private hospitals that cannot provide affordable services to low-income residents.

“This will also ensure that our constituents have access to quality health care with an affordable price point compared to private hospitals,” Zubiri said.

The hospital is part of the health program of Mayor Jerry Treñas here. Its construction is funded by a loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

On the other hand, the P200-million Medical Arts Building is funded by the national government and will be constructed under a program of the Department of Works and Highways (DPWH).

Also present during the groundbreaking ceremony were former Sen. Franklin M. Drilon, Iloilo City Rep. Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda, Uswag Ilonggo party-list Rep. James “Jojo” Ang, Iloilo City Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, members of the Iloilo City Council, and other city officials.
