Korean actor arrested for drug use 


A Korean actor who appeared in the film “Secretly Greatly” and dramas “Miss Monte-Cristo” and “Private Lives” was arrested in Seoul after he was found wandering the streets in Gangnam, Seoul and tested positive for drug use.

The police arrested actor Lee Sang-bo, 40, at his home in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 10 for alleged use of illegal drugs.

CCTV footage obtained by TV news program SBS 8 showed the actor wearing pajamas and staggering on a street in Gangnam.

The police received a report about a man who appeared to be intoxicated and wandering the streets. The CCTV footage showed the police taking the man into custody, who turned out to be Lee Sang-bo.

The report added that Lee Sang-bo tested positive for drug use through a reagent test. He also admitted taking drugs and was released. He was treated at a hospital but the police will investigate him.

Korean media reported that according to the police, Lee Sang-bo had vomit marks around his mouth and on his t-shirt. Dozens of pills were found in his home, the reports added.

After the incident, Lee Sang-bo turned his Instagram account private.

Lee Sang-bo debuted as an actor in 2006 through the Korean drama “Invisible Man.” His other dramas include “Man Who Dies to Live” and “Rugal.”

Last year, he starred in the drama “Miss Monte-Cristo” with Lee So-Yeon, Choi Yeo-Jin and Kyoung Sung-Hwan.

Initially, Korean media reports did not name the actor, which prompted netizens to speculate the identity.

As a result, actors Park Hae-jin of “Cheese in the Trap” and Lee Moo-saeng “The World of the Married” were dragged into the controversy.

Their agencies denied the speculations and warned that they would take legal action against false information being spread online.
