Christopher de Leon came out recently to share how he succumbed to illegal drugs at the height of his fame.
Talking to good friend Amy Austria for her vlog, he shared, “Naging too confident ako...Nalululong ako sa masamang bisyo...Because of the fame, success...”
It didn't help that money was pouring in seemingly non-stop.
He related, “Susuweldo ka today, call up the boys, call up the gang, ‘Let’s paint the town red!’ Excessive ako...”
It was too late to realize he has gone overboard.
“Nawala na ako. Kasi nawala na ang Diyos sa akin,” he said.
Although work didn’t stop, Christopher admitted, “Nothing ever prospered during that time. Mangyayari pero it will fail in the end.”
“I crossed the line. Unfortunately, nalito na ako sa takbo ng buhay,” he added.
His awakening started with wife Sandy Andolog leaving him with their kids in tow.
“I was crying with my face to the floor. I had to say, ‘God save me.’ I was kneeling down. ‘God, help me. I want to stop. (But) I can’t get out of this addiction.'”
He was actually surprised with God answering his prayer.
Soon after turning his back on drugs, Sandy returned and they were able to start anew.
Christopher said, “God is an answering God. Pag galing talaga sa puso mo, pakikinggan ka.” “He’s a merciful God. He gives you all the chances in life, not only a second chance, but a third or fourth chance. Nothing is impossible with God.”
