Angono’s fisher folks receive tilapia fingerlings

Angono, Rizal's fishermen received more than 50,000 fingerlings of "tilapia," a fresh water fish, from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) during a lake seeding ceremony in the Laguna Lake portion of the lakeshore municpality.

Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said the fingerlings' distribution and seeding at the Laguna Lake held over the weekend would benefit the town’s fisherfolks who rely mostly on their catch of fresh water fishes.

The town’s agriculture and veterinary office, headed by Dr. Joel Tuplano, said the lake seeding program was made possible through the regular assistance of the BFAR Region 4-A to the town government’s "Balik Sigla Sa Ilog at Lawa" (BASIL) program, a rehabilitation effort of the Angono municipal government in Laguna Lake.
