ROSARIO, La Union – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a slope protection project on the Manila North Road in Barangay Benteng here.
The DPWH-La Union Second District Engineering Office, under District Engineer (DE) Gil B. Lorenzo, carried out slope protection works, which included soil nailing, installation of erosion control mats, and other protection works.
The finished slope protection spans 84 meters in four stations.
Lorenzo said this will ensure the safety of motorists passing by from slope collapse. “It is a big help in reducing the possibility of a landslide and ensures safer travel for motorists.”
Meanwhile, the DPWH-Regional Office 1 (Ilocos) reported that the Manila North Road in Sitio Banquero, Barangay Pancian, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte is closed to all types of vehicles as of 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 due to land and rockslides caused by typhoon “Inday. “
Clearing operations are ongoing, according to the DPWH-Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office.
