PNP sends battalion-size contingent to NCR to boost police visibility for 'ber' months
The Philippine National Police (PNP) sent at least 240 of its personnel assigned at Camp Crame in Quezon City to augment policemen in Metro Manila in anticipation of the spike in criminal activities with the start of the ber months.
Based on PNP data, criminal activities especially robbery and theft, usually go up on the days leading to Christmas.

Police Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the battalion-size policemen will be deployed mostly in the southern part of Metro Manila which covers Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, Taguig and Las Piñas.
He said the additional manpower sent to NCRPO will be utilized to augment SPD deployment composed of 368 personnel performing three-shifts, eight-hour tour of duty under S.A.F.E. NCRPO program which aims to ensure that police officers are seen, appreciated and felt through the delivery of extraordinary public service.
"Now that the ber months have already started, we are anticipating that there will be more people who would visit Metro Manila for leisure activities," said Estomo.
"So this reinforcement is a big boost to our efforts to ensure peace and order in Metro Manila," he added.
Estomo and Southern Police District (SPD) Director Col. Kirby John Kraft led the acceptance of one battalion of augmentation Force from Camp Crame on Friday evening, Sept. 9, in Pasay City.
