ILOILO CITY – Police arrested the No. 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas in Caluya, Antique on Friday, Sept. 9.
The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 identified the suspect as Roland Saulong Castañeda, 40.
He was nabbed by the PRO-6 Regional Intelligence Division, Antique Police Provincial Office-Intelligence Unit, Maritime Police-Antique, and Caluya Municipal Police Station.
Castañeda is facing two counts of rape filed in March 2021.
He was arrested on a warrant issued by Judge Josefina Fulo Muego of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Culasi, Antique.
Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, said a tip from an informant led to the suspect’s arrest.
“We thank the informant for trusting us and helping us arrest this person,” said Francisco.
The PRO-6 has arrested 4,242 wanted persons from January to August 2022. Six-hundred eighty were classified as most wanted persons (MWPs) while 3, 562 are other wanted persons.
