Pasig LGU, Ayala Malls sign MOA to expand business one stop shop

In a bid to provide services to more barangays in Pasig City, the local government signed on Thursday, Sept. 8, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Ayala Malls The 30th for the expansion of the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS).

Among the signatories were Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto, City Administrator Mr. Jeron Manzanero, Ms. Melanie De Mesa, chief of the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), Ayala Malls Cluster Head Ms. Pivi Diaz, Ayala Malls Vice President, and Central Head Ms. AC Legarda.

BOSS at Ayala Malls The 30th was first established in January 2021 to bring government services to the public at a more convenient location.

Through the MOA, the service center will have a 164 square meter expansion within the premises of the mall.

A bigger BOSS will be able to cater to businesses from Barangay Oranbo, Kapitolyo, and Pineda, unlike the previous center that accommodated those solely from Barangays Ugong and San Antonio.

“The expansion is expected to further decongest the transacting public in Pasig City Hall, especially during the business renewal season,” said the local government.

“This will also bring business-related services closer to barangays that house more than 30% of businesses in the city given their proximity to the Business District,” they added.

In January 2021, Mayor Sotto said 9,575 out of 27,790 local businesses were based in only two out of 30 Pasig barangays, namely San Antonio and Ugong.

He added these businesses are the government’s biggest source of funds.

Sotto first shared the concept and plans for BOSS in November 2020, saying there is a “need to invest in improving the application and renewal processes for these businesses.”

“Mas madali ang proseso, mas dadami at lalago ang mga negosyo sa Pasig (The easier the process, the more our businesses in Pasig will multiply and grow),” he said.

Sotto added the BOSS also aimed to reduce red tape in government transactions.
