Over P6.2-M marijuana seized in Caloocan buy-bust

Police confiscated P6,240,000 worth of suspected marijuana and arrested a drug leader in Caloocan City on Friday, Sept. 9.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) identified the male suspect as Jenny Roy Darit, 21, the alleged leader of the Jenny Roy drug syndicate from Tondo, Manila.

He was arrested by joint forces of the CCPS Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU), the 6th Mobile Force Company, Regional Mobile Force Batallion-National Capital Region Police Office (MFC RMBF-NCRPO), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency National Capital Region (PDEA-NCR) in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 18 at around 6:05 a.m. on Friday.

Authorities recovered 52 plastic sachets containing around 52 kilos of dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be marijuana, and the buy-bust money.

Police said the suspect had been selling marijuana for two years now.

The suspect is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 (Sale, Trading, Administration, Dispensation, Delivery, Distribution and Transportation of Dangerous Drugs and/or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Philippines National Police (PNP) Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.

The Northern Police District (NPD) called on the public not to hesitate to report to police stations any untoward incident or suspicious individuals in their communities.
