Marcos extends PH condolences on Queen Elizabeth's death

​President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has expressed his sympathies to the British people by signing a book of condolence opened by the British Embassy in Manila on Friday following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils said Marcos Jr. was the first to sign the book of condolence.

He was​ joined by his family—his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos; his sons, Senior House Deputy Speaker Sandro and Simon; and cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

"We are grateful for your kind words and warm memories of Her Majesty," Beaufils said.

On the other hand, flags at the British Embassy in Manila were flown at half-mast.

Beaufils, in a Twitter post, said it was "an incredibly sad day for the United Kingdom and many people around the world as we mourn the death of Her Majesty the Queen," who died at the age of 96.

"She was an extraordinary woman who defined modern Britain at home and abroad. My family & I send our deepest condolences to His Majesty The King and to the Royal Family," she added.
