Ross, Herndon clear air on Mikey Williams sighting in SMB victory party

San Miguel Beer guards Chris Ross and Robbie Herndon came to the defense of TNT guard Mikey Williams who had been put in the bad light after a video of him joining the San Miguel victory party made rounds on social media.

A short clip of the celebration showed San Miguel Beer players June Mar Fajardo, Jericho Cruz, Marcio Lassiter and Simon Enciso before Williams appeared at the end of the video.

Some fans were quick to react to the viral video – some of which pointed out that seeing the TNT star with the same team that defeated them in the hardly fought Game 7 left a bad taste.

“SMB fans understand my frustration regarding this Mikey Williams thing. Because they know well, if situations were reversed. Not one SMB player would do that. For one, they respect their fans. Two, lagot sila kay Al Francis. I still love Mikey, but that's messed up,” one fan tweeted.

Ross and Herndon, known to be good friends of Williams, also took to social media to explain why the TNT guard was present in the victory party. They clarified that the TNT guard was in the venue long before the SMB players arrived.

“Man you guys will find anything to complain about. This man gave his everything to try to help win, playing hurt and even won their first chip last season in more than 5 years. He was at the restaurant long before we got there and when we showed up he tried to leave but me and Robbie forced him to stay. Y’all are definitely reaching on this,” tweeted Ross.

“Mikey was already at the restaurant before we even showed up. Wasn’t planned at all! He tried to leave many times but we made it quite hard for him to go leave,” added Herndon.

Herndon, Ross and Williams, despite being close pals, went at it in the Finals showdown that went the distance. The prolific TNT scorer, after a lackluster first few games including a career-low two-point output in Game 6, left it all in the winner-take-all Game 7, scoring 17 of his 22 points right on the first quarter alone.

Ross, known to be one of the best defenders in the league, along with Enciso put the clamps down on the fellow Fil-Am guard who could only muster five points the rest of the game as the Beermen pulled away with a back breaking 35-8 explosion in the fourth quarter.
