Korean actor Hyun Bin’s comeback film “Confidential Assignment 2: International” premiered at No. 1 on the Korean box office.
According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), which tracks box office receipts, “Confidential Assignment 2: International” debuted on top on opening day on Sept. 7.

The movie sold 216,305 tickets and grossed $1.52 million on opening day. Including pre-opening data, the film has total admissions of 227,403 and gross of $1.6 million.
It toppled the Korean comedy “6/45,” starring Go Kyung-pyo and Lee Yi-kyung, from the top spot.
In the movie, Hyun Bin co-stars with Yoo Hae-jin, Yoona, Daniel Henney and Jin Seon-kyu.
It is a sequel to Hyun Bin’s 2017 movie “Confidential Assignment,” which sold 7.8 million tickets and grossed $48.57 million, according to KOFIC.
In the sequel, Hyun Bin again plays the role of Im Cheol-ryung, a North Korean detective sent to South Korea again on a mission.
This is his third time to play a North Korean after “Confidential Assignment” and “Crash Landing on You.”
“If it was not ‘Confidential Assignment 2’ I don’t think I would have taken the role that speaks in a North Korean accent. The North Korean accent that I used in ‘Confidential Assignment’ is different from the one that I used in ‘Crash Landing on You,’ so I had to practice the accent again,” he said, the Korean Herald reported.
