Antigen test for detection of the Covid-19 virus is now available at the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)'s molecular laboratories located in its PLMC building in Mandaluyong City and Port Area office in Manila.

Starting Thursday, Sept. 8, this "faster and cheaper" testing alternative can be availed for P400, said PRC.
"Although Omicron infections appear milder, there is a need to urge caution because the virus is still spreading. Now with our COVID-19 antigen testing, PRC can provide diagnosis in minutes," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon who also noted that there is still a critical need for testing in the country.
"With the price of 400 pesos, it is within reach of our people", Gordon added.
PRC reminded the public that RT-PCR swab and saliva tests are still the gold standards for Covid-19 testing.
These are also available at the humanitarian organization's molecular laboratories.
PRC's 1st laboratory started its operation in April 2020 and is the "first of its kind in the country," said PRC.
Since then, the organization has tested almost six million swab and saliva samples nationwide.
"Araw-araw, sinisikap ng aming volunteers at staff na laging maging una, laging handa, at laging nandyan para sa ating mga kababayan sa panahon ng emergency at sakuna (Every day, our volunteers and staff are striving to be always first, always ready, and always there for our countrymen in times of emergency and disaster)," Gordon said.
