So they put up an online store, share their favorites and skincare tips
In their early 30s, Burt Chua, Richmond Chong, and Kenneth Toh have known each other since they were in high school. All three lived in Canada and made the big move back to the Philippines to find their places in this world.
Though busy with their own businesses, they still found time to catch up with each other. This led to the discussion of how they should take care of their bodies, including their skin. And how challenging it is to find good skincare products here in Manila, not to mention how confusing it can be for men.

“We were starting to notice differences in our skin, and we started to ask questions. We tried to prioritize our skin, but since it wasn’t as convenient to get access to good skincare here, we would just purchase products here and there as we came across them,” explains Burt, while Richmond adds, “It was never really a full regimen. Ultimately, there was nothing here that really spoke to young professional males looking for ways to be proactive in taking care of their skin as time went on.”
This is where Doppkit comes in, a one stop-shop for men’s skincare and grooming products. “We exist because we want to take the guesswork out of daily skincare and grooming routines. Our mission is to make these rituals a part of life, so the focus can be on performing at one’s best daily. We want to do the filtering—to distill the information, products and the do’s and don’ts, so that men can begin to invest in themselves in a no-fuss manner,” says Kenneth.

Of course, the first brands and products they included are items that they have personally tried and attest to. Burt loves Salt & Stones Antioxidant Body Wash, “It uses plant-based and naturally-occurring ingredients that deliver powerful benefits without the harsh effects of synthetic chemicals. This one uses seaweed extracts and a myriad of botanicals that makes my skin feel hydrated and smooth each shower. And as a bonus, the smell is super calming! A great way to start and end the day.”

Richmond’s personal favorite is the Ponsonby Pomade from Triumph & Disaster. “Aside from being able to style my hair, it protects it from getting damaged. Its natural ingredients also make it not too greasy and easy to wash off at the end of the day.”

On the other hand, Kenneth recommends Reyal’s Total Skincare Kit. “They do a really great job at keeping things simple and straightforward with their “layering” system that is formulated with male skincare anatomy in mind—it’s everything a guy would need to get started on their skincare regimen: a cleanser, a serum, a daytime moisturizer (with SPF) and a nighttime moisturizer (with retinol). Plus, they use really powerful ingredients like dragon’s blood and tiger grass.”
Doppkit also carries Anthony from the USA and The Groomed Man Co. from Australia. When asked what skincare tips these men have to share, Burt reminds, “Keep it simple, especially at the start. The best skincare routine is the one you stick with long term, over complicating it can be overwhelming. Then slowly add to it as it becomes habitual.” Richmond believes in cleansing and moisturizing before bed. “Your skin will thank you later.” Kenneth adds, “Exfoliate two times a week—no more, no less. And during nighttime, before bed to prevent sun damage.”
