SPD units arrest 345 gamblers in 2 days 


Police units under the Southern Police District (SPD) arrested 345 individuals in a One-Time Big-Time Operation (OTBT) focusing on illegal gambling.

According to SPD acting director Col. Kirby John Kraft, the police seized P87,051 in bet money from the operations conducted on Sept. 6 to 7.

A total of 98 operations were conducted by the police against illegal gambling such as “pusoy,” “cara y cruz,” mahjong and bookies (STL). They arrested 345 persons, including a gambling operator.

In Pasay, 18 operations were conducted by the police, resulting in the arrest of 75 persons. A total of 64 persons were arrested in Taguig followed by Muntinlupa, 59; Pasay, 54; Paranaque, 48; Las Pinas, 33; and Pateros, nine.

The police filed 97 cases against the suspects who were arrested during the operations.

“We will continue to sustain this anti-criminality campaign not just during the conduct of OTBT but make it a day-to-day endeavor to keep the Southern Metro safe,” Kraft said.
