SC awards historical markers to 2 universities as sites of 2020-2021 online Bar examinations

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday, Sept. 7, awarded the historical markers to the Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan and to Liceo de Cagayan University, both in Cagayan de Oro City, as sites of the first ever digitized and regionalized 2020-2021 Bar examinations.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, 2020-2021 Bar Examinations Chairperson and Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, and Associate Justices Mario V. Lopez, Samuel H. Gaerlan, Japar B. Dimaampao, Jhosep Y. Lopez, and Jose Midas P. Marquez were present during the awarding ceremonies.
The SC’s public information office (PIO) said the Chief Justice and the justices expressed their appreciation and gratitude to Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan President Fr. Mars P. Tan, S.J., Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan College of Law Dean Atty. Silvia Jo Sabio, and Liceo de Cagayan University College of Law Dean Atty. Manuel I. Cabrera for their support in recent online Bar examinations.
Last Sept. 1, the SC awarded a historical marker to the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) in Davao City.
Based on the success of the 2020-2021 Bar examinations, the SC had decided to conduct all incoming Bar examinations online and regionalized.
The 2020/2021 Bar examinations were held on Feb. 4 and 6 in 29 testing sites nationwide.
A total of 8,241 of the 11,402 who took and completed the tests passed the examinations.
Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa is the chairperson of the 2022 Bar examinations which will be administered by the SC on Nov. 9, 13, 16, and 20.
Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, on the other hand, will be the chairperson of the 2023 bar examinations committee.
