There will be no classes in both public and private schools in San Mateo, Rizal on Sept. 9, Friday, as the entire municipality celebrates the Septemberfest.
In his Proclamation No. 02, a copy of which was posted on the official Facebook page of the San Mateo Public Information Office, Mayor Bartolome N. Rivera, Jr., declared that there will be no classes in all levels on Sept. 9 within the jurisdiction of San Mateo, to mark the beginning of Septemberfest and in honor of the feast day of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu.
Students and members of the academe are expected to participate in the activities for Septemberfest that carries this year’s theme, ‘Kulturang San Mateo @450: Pagyamanin at Pasikatin”, as their role is essential for a more meaningful celebration and successful promotion of cultural awareness, according to Mayor Rivera.
Set to happen on Sept. 9 are the annual Kakanin Festival that showcases the native sweets and delicacies of the town, activities for the town’s foundation day anniversary, and the church-initiated programs for the feast day of the town’s patroness -- the Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu.
Traffic rerouting is scheduled as there will be a motorcade and parade starting at 9 a.m. on the main roads, including General Luna Avenue and the surrounding streets near the municipal hall and the church.
