184 quake victims in Mt. Province receive financial assistance from OWWA
A total of 184 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Mt. Province received P3,000 each from the disbursement of the calamity Welfare Assistance Program (WAP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The OWWA-National Reintegration Center for OFWs (OWWA-NRCO) led the payout of assistance in the remote town of Bauko in Mt. Province amounting to P552,000. Beneficiaries were unemployed OFWs that were hit by a natural calamity.

Executive Director Dindi Tan of OWWA-NRCO said they were instructed by OWWA Administrator Arnelio Ignacio to personally hand over the calamity assistance to the OFWs and assess their conditions if there is a need to reintegrate another mode of relief.
“We travel 12 hours to get in there. We trailed through the high mountains of Cordillera just to reach the OFW community in the remote town of Bauko. It is worth serving our OFWs, especially in times of their difficulties,” said Tan in her text messages to Manila Bulletin.
The remote town of Bauko in Mt. Province was identified as one of the areas of concern after a magnitude 7.0 quake shook extreme Northern Luzon on July 27.
According to OWWA-NRCO, they also distributed calamity assistance to OFW beneficiaries in places hit by the strong tremor including Abra, Ilocos, and other parts of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Meanwhile, OWWA told Manila Bulletin that the total amount of dispersed WAP funding has yet to be determined as the disbursement is still ongoing.
