DOLE orders strict reporting of Covid-19 transmission in workplaces
Following the slight surge in Covid-19 positivity rate in the provinces, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday, Sept. 6, issued a new Labor Advisory (LA) instructing all business establishments to strictly abide by the existing protocols in reporting transmission of the virus in workplaces.
DOLE’s L.A. No. 18 Series of 2022 on Covid-19 Prevention and Reporting Protocols in Workplace, dated Sept. 6 and signed by Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, reminded all establishments to ensure good practice of detection strategies in workplaces and observance of the minimum public health standards.

“The covered establishments shall comply with the Department of Health (DOH) Memorandum No. 2022-0013 or the Updated Guidelines on the Quarantine, Isolation, and Testing for COVID-19 Response and Case Management for the Omicron Variant, and the latest DOH issuances,” the advisory read.
Laguesma also warned all private establishments to observe proper guidelines, especially concerning proper testing, quarantine protocols, and isolation response to employees.
The advisory instructed private establishments to oblige safety officers to submit frequently the list of Covid-19 positive cases and their close contacts through the Employer’s Work Accident/Illness Report (WAIR).
Cases of Covid-19 that occur in workplaces can be uploaded to the DOLE Establishment Report System through (https://reports.dole.go.ph).
“The covered establishments through their Safety Officers shall submit the list of COPVI-19 cases and close contacts in their respective workplaces and their respective LGU and DOH for reporting, including investigation details on sources of transmission pursuant to Section VI (B) (3) of DOH AO No. 2021-0043,” said DOLE.
A report from OCTA Research Group noted a significant increase in the Covid-19 positivity rate or numbers of people who tested positive in Albay, Camarines Sur, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac as of August 27.
In National Capital Region (NCR), however, decreases the numbers of Covid-19 positivity rate, according to OCTA Research.
As of Sept. 5, the DOH Covid-19 Tracker recorded 24,493 active Covid-19 cases in the country; 62,062 recorded died, among 3,893,573 total cases since 2020. Of these numbers, 3,807, 018 have recovered.
