MB Daily News Update: PBBM meets with Widodo, Pinoys living and working in Indonesia


President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. hit the ground running on his first foreign trip, meeting with Filipinos living and working in Indonesia on Sunday night, before highlighting his state visit with an audience with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday afternoon.

In other reports from Indonesia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will be taking the lead in negotiating for the release of Filipina Mary Jane Veloso, who is on Indonesian death row for allegedly being a drug mule 12 years ago; and officials of both governments have sealed diplomatic, military and economic deals.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that Facebook and Grab Singapore have been hiring Filipino workers, and the German government is in need of 600 Filipino nurses.

Meanwhile, the so-called “Poblacion Girl”, who raised an uproar after she was able to leave a hotel where she had been under quarantine at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, pled guilty to violating health protocols.
