Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando on Monday, Sept. 5, urged the police officers in Central Luzon to serve as role models for the youth.
Fernando made his statement during the flag-raising ceremony of the Philippine National Police-Police Regional Office 3 (PNP-PRO3) headed by Brig. Gen. Cesar R. Persiwen in Camp Captain Julian Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
“Let us go beyond our responsibilities and always remember every Filipino family who is living safely due to our truthful service to maintain peace and order. Let's offer our service and become a role model to the Filipino youth who dream of serving the country,” he said.
Fernando also commended the personnel of the PRO-3 for their successful series of manhunt operations against most wanted persons and for their ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.
“Sa totoo lang po, masasaktan ako kapag may napahamak o magbuwis ng buhay sa ating kapulisan lalo pa at batid ko naman ang inyong tapat na hangarin na maglingkod sa ating mga kababayan para masiguro ang kanilang kaligtasan (To be honest, I will be hurt if one of our policemen will be harmed or die as I am aware of your sincere desire to serve our countrymen to ensure their safety)," the governor said.
He also vowed to always support the PNP in its aspirations to maintain peace and order in the country.
"In honor of our flag and your commitment to duty, I vow to do my part as the governor of the Province of Bulacan to strengthen our uniformed services in our jurisdiction. Let us reinforce our solidarity towards an inclusive, peaceful, and humane future," Fernando added.
As honorary guest, the governor also led the awarding of “Medalya ng Papuri” to 10 PNP personnel for their outstanding service and successful operations against criminalities.
Among the attendees were command groups, Brig. Gen. Jerry F. Bearis, Col. Jay Reyes Cumigad, Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, and acting Bulacan police provincial director Col. Charlie A. Cabradilla.
