Caloocan LGU launches online payment system

The City Government of Caloocan launched on Monday, Sept. 5, the online payment system for business and real property taxes in the city.

The launching of the online payment system, in partnership with Gcash, was led by Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan during the city’s regular flag raising ceremony on Monday.

The online payment system aims to improve the ease of doing business and paying taxes in the city, said Malapitan.

The mayor added this will also encourage more investors and residents to pay on time.

“Kung gaano kaganda at kaayos ang ating City Hall, sisikapin nating ayusin rin ang mga transaksyon sa loob nito para mahikayat ang mas marami pang negosyante at ang ating mga kababayan na magbayad ng buwis sa oras (We will try to organize the transactions in the City Hall to encourage more businessmen and residents to pay their taxes on time),” he said.

The local chief executive also said this alternative payment system is safer and more convenient, especially for those who are working during weekdays and senior citizens amid the pandemic.

“Mas madali, walang pila at hindi na kailangang umabsent o mag-leave ng mga nagtratrabaho para magbayad ng buwis, lalo na sa mga senior citizens natin na nagtyatyagang pumunta pa sa City Hall. Mas ligtas ang online payment para sa lahat dahil naiiwasan nating makisalamuha sa ibang tao (It's easier, there are no queues and there is no need for those who work to be absent or to go on leave to pay taxes, especially for our senior citizens who still try to go to City Hall. Online payment is safer for everyone because we avoid interacting with other people),” Malapitan noted.

Taxpayers in the city can now pay at caloocancity.gov.ph under the Online Services-Assessments and Payments drop-down menu. They will just have to select Gcash as payment method and enter the amount to be paid. A text message shall be sent to the registered mobile number as payment confirmation.

City Treasurer Analiza Mendiola said this is part of Malapitan's directive to provide online options for government transactions. She said taxpayers will also receive a soft copy of their receipt through email and they can also provide their home address and details for the delivery of the hard copy.

Meanwhile, owners can register their new businesses, submit requirements, and pay for the registration fees through the same link.
