The Caloocan City government conducted a simultaneous clean-up drive in the city on Sunday, Sept. 4.
The clean-up operations were led by the Caloocan City Environmental Management Department (CEMD) and the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD) upon the instruction of Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan.
The local government said that around 300 sacks of garbage were collected from the South Caloocan and more than 230 sacks from the North which were due to the series of rainfall in the areas.
Employees of the CEMD performed sweeping, fogging, and declogging operations from 5th Avenue to 5th Street, Cielito Homes 2, and Congress Elementary School.
Meanwhile, the PSTMD has cleaned and hauled debris in different places in the city.
"Salamat sa ating masisipag na kawani sa kanilang dedikasyon, kahit araw ng Linggo, katuwang namin kayo sa pagpapanatiling maayos at ligtas ang Caloocan (Thanks to our hardworking staff for their dedication, even on Sundays, you join us in keeping Caloocan orderly and safe) Malapitan said in a Facebook post.
The city mayor said that the program's purpose is to clean the areas to prevent diseases caused by pollution. (Diann Ivy Calucin)
