CIDG summons 3 people in 'fake' BI appointment, 2 others being tracked down
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has identified at least five people tagged as responsible in the alleged forgery of the appointment paper of Abraham Espejo as the new Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration.
"The CIDG was able to make a breakthrough in identifying personalities that may shed light about the said allegation," said CIDG director Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, adding that they have already issued a subpoena on three of the five people they identified.
"We are now conducting to the determine the addresses of the two others so that we could also send a subpoena," said Lee.
The CIDG has stepped into the case after Malacanan ordered a through investigation into the appointment papers of Espejo which circulated in the social media.
The paper allegedly had a fake signature of President Marcos and forged government seal.
"With the ongoing investigation, we seek the cooperation and full support of those who were initially identified to uncover the truth through the information that they will be providing. Likewise, all pieces of information will be subject to further evaluation and validation," said Lee.
"Our appeal continues for those who may have information about the said incident," he added.
