2 nabbed for blackmailing woman in Makati


Two persons who allegedly hacked the social media account of a woman and blackmailed her using her sensitive information were arrested in an entrapment operation launched by the Makati City Police on Thursday, Sept. 1.

Police said the suspects, identified as Mark Joseph Tablan, 28, and Sittie Diamon Taurac, 26, were nabbed on Montojo St. in Barangay Tejeros, Makati City.

According to the police report, Tablan and Taurac hacked the social media account of a certain Annie (full name withheld) and used the sensitive information that they got to extort money from her.

The victim sought the help of the Makati City Police.

Following the suspects’ arrest, police operatives found out that the duo are members of the “Aya Criminal Group” involved in fraud and scamming activities in the southern part of Metro Manila.

Tablan and Taurac are now facing robbery, extortion and grave threat charges, and a case of violation of Republic Act 9995 (Anti Photo and Video Voyeurism Act).

Acting Southern Police District director Col. Kirby John Kraft commended the city police for the successful operation.
