Nokia commits to further expand 5G in PH

Nokia reaffirmed its commitment to support the digital transformation of local enterprises.

On Thursday, Sept. 1 in Taguig City, Nokia Philippines head Carlos Reyes said the Philippines is a pioneer in 5G development, and is one of the most exciting countries in the Southeast Asia region today as it continues to expand the nationwide 5G deployment.

Hence, "We remain committed to delivering greater operational productivity and efficiency through our next generation-communication technology," he reiterated.

Between year-end and early 2023, Nokia Philippines targets to launch an indoor mobile module solution providing 4G and 5G service for residential and business users.

The indoor 5G base station, called Nokia Smart Node, is ideal for offices, schools and gamers. It complements the coverage of existing outdoor networks, according to Reyes.

However, the cost of the 5G base station depends on the volume of demand.

Definitely, the demand is there because users need indoor coverage, he noted.

Overall, Nokia has 233 commercial 5G deals to date and powers 77 live 5G operator networks.

Out of these, Nokia has 21 commercial 5G deals across Asia Pacific and Japan.

Nokia has deployed mission-critical networks to more than 2,200 leading enterprise customers in the transport, energy, large enterprise, manufacturing, webscale and public sector segments around the globe.

It has also extended its expertise to more than 485 large private wireless customers worldwide across an array of sectors.
