NPA arms stash discovered in Cagayan


BAGGAO, Cagayan – The Army 77th Infantry Battalion (IB) under Joint Task Force (JTF) Tala discovered a New People’s Army (NPA) arms cache on Tuesday, Aug. 30, in Barangay San Miguel here.

A resident saw a group of men burying them and informed authorities, leading to its discovery.

The arms cache yielded four rifle grenades, six revolvers, one homemade caliber .22, spare parts for various firearms, assorted ammunition, and subversive documents.

It was taken to the headquarters of the 204th MC in Barangay Tallang here for proper disposition.

Police Major Gen. Laurence Mina, commander of the Joint Task Force Tala, thanked residents for responding to the call of the government for social healing and reconciliation to attain peace.

Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr., Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command chief, said that “the series of accomplishments of the troops on the ground is a result of the unwavering support of the Filipino people who have gone tired of the ploys and deceptions of the communist terrorist group.”

Torres reiterated that they will remain committed in their sworn duty to ensure that peace and development will continue to prosper in North and Central Luzon.
