It is the first time he appeared on the boob tube since the onset of the pandemic.

More, it is actually the first time he sang live after three long years.

According to show host Arnold Clavio, the King of Filipino Carols was actually emotional while rehearsing the song he was to sing on the show, the classic "Christmas In Our Hearts."

Asked about it, the 77-year-old explained, “When I was singing the song, parang bigla kong na-feel yung original feeling ko when I composed that song (in 1990). “And after thirty-two years, that song continues to be relevant to the young and old people alike so, nakaka-touch.”

In a social media post, the show acknowledged that Jose Mari's appearance on the show is their way of celebrating the arrival of the so-called "Ber Months."

A photo of the hosts with the singer was captioned thus: "MAAGANG PASKO SA PILIPINAS! Christmas in the air! Lagi nating inaabangan si Jose Mari Chan sa tuwing magsisimula na ang BER months kaya naman LIVE nating siyang nakasama sa UH Tambayan kasama ang UH Barkada!"
