Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has lauded the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) for being the best city jail in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Lubos na ikinagagalak ng Lungsod Quezon ang pagkapanalo ng ating QCJ Male Dormitory bilang pinakamahusay na jail institution sa buong NCR. Patunay ito na naging mabisa ang pagsasabuhay nila ng kanilang tungkulin na maging pansamantalang tahanan para sa mga kababayan nating bumabangon mula sa kanilang kinakaharap na kaso (Quezon City is very happy that our QCJ Male Dormitory was recognized as the best jail institution in the entire NCR. This is a proof that it has effectively implemented its duty to be a temporary home for those who are recovering from the cases they are facing),” the mayor said.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology - National Capital Region (BJMP- NCR) recognized the QCJMD as the "Best City Jail (Male Dormitory Category)" during its 31st Anniversary celebration held at The Element in Eton Centris, Quezon City on Aug. 25.
It was the first time the QCJMD received the said distinction.
BJMP-QC’s Quezon City Jail Ligtas Covid Center and Quarantine Facility was also cited as the "Best Quarantine Facility" in Metro Manila.
The Quezon City government also received a special award for its continued support to the institution and for providing aid for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
The city government said that it has been closely coordinating with the QCJMD to provide the needs of the institution, including programs for livelihood and health.

The local government will continue to support you so that we can better provide the needs of our citizens for the betterment of their lives),” Belmonte said.

In March 2022, the city mayor led the turnover ceremony of the newly-built QC Male Dormitory in Barangay Bagong Silangan that is compliant with United Nations standards and is expected to help decongest the current city jail in Kamuning, Quezon City.
The local government said the QCJMD personnel are also involved in the formulation of city programs as active members of the city’s Peace and Order Council.
