Landslide spawned by typhoon Henry’s heavy rains catches farmer inside brother’s house in Ifugao


MAYOYAO, Ifugao – Typhoon Henry took its toll after a man was struck by a landslide spawned by heavy rains on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 31, at Sitio Natulan in barangay Mongol in this town.

According to Moyayao Municipal Police Station reports, the search and rescue teams recovered the body of Rennie Omayho Bullan, 37, on Thursday, Sept. 1, after he was caught by the cascading landslide inside the house of his brother.

Police investigation revealed that the victim, a farmer, went to his brother's house to secure his motorcycle and decided to stay there because of the heavy rain and at the same time wait for his brother to return home.

Unfortunately, a landslide occurred in the area, hitting the house where the victim was staying. The victim was trapped inside the house.

The combined personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Ifugao Provincial Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other volunteers immediately responded to the area to conduct search and rescue operations.

The victim's body was brought to his residence in Sitio Natimlan, Barangay Mongol, Mayoyao, Ifugao.
