Korean actor Kang Tae-oh of 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' to enlist in the military

Kang Tae-oh, whose popularity soared through the Korean drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” announced that he will be enlisting in the military.

The 28-year-old star held his online fan meeting “TikTok Stage Connect: SweeTaeOh” on Aug. 31 where he announced that he will starting his military service on Sept. 20.

“Before I get to singing, I want to say something. One day, KakaoTalk alarm came,” he said.

He added, “The country calling me. On September 20, I am going to do my duties.”

“For the fans who will wait for me, I will be singing ‘Thank You’ by Kim Dong-ryul. I am very thankful for the moment we had today,” he said.

Kang Tae-oh said, “I am thanking everyone here and everyone who joined us online. Everyone, thank you for everything. I was nervous before the meeting today but I am so glad that I got to be here today.”

All Korean men are required under the law to serve in the military.

Kang Tae-oh will serve as an active duty soldier and will be away for 18 months. He is expected to be discharged in March 2024.
