Top performing PNP offices, cops recognized in Central Visayas

CEBU CITY -- Top performing personnel and police offices were recognized during the 121st Police Service Anniversary celebration of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the PRO 7 Headquarters here.

Col. Elmer Lim, officer-in-charge of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), was adjudged Best Police Commissioned Officer for Administration, while the CPPO was named the Best-Performing Police Provincial Office.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) took the Best-Performing City Police Office award.

Col. Arnel Banzon, chief of LLCPO, was named the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operation while the Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration award went to Col. Joeson Parallag of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office.

The Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Operations was awarded to Lt. Col. Epream Paguyod of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Central Visayas (RMFB 7).

Senior M/Sgt. Marilyn Stella Animas of the Bohol PPO was named Best Senior Non-Commissioned Officer for Administration while Senrio Master Sgt. Jesse James Villarino of Mandaue PPO took the Best Senior Non-Commissioned Officer for Operation award.

The Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned for Administration was given to S/Sgt. Jonathan Monterde of Cebu CPO. S/Sgt. Francisco Quipanes Jr. of Mandaue CPO was named the Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned for Operation.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office was chosen as the Best Police Provincial Office while the CCPO was adjudged the Best City Police Office.

Other awardees were the Dumaguete City Police Station (Best Component City Police Station), Abellana Police Station (Best City Police Station), Sta. Catalina Municipal Police Station (Best Municipal Police Station), RMFB 7 (Best Regional Mobile Force Battalion), Cebu City Mobile Force Company (Best City Mobile Force Company), and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (Best Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The Talisay City Police Station, Minglanilla Police Station and Police Station 3 in Lapu-Lapu City were awarded as Best Performing Units in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Brig Gen. Eduardo Roque Vega said the PRO 7 performed well in its anti-criminality last year.

Vega said 40,967 crimes were recorded from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

The figures were 5.38 percent lower compared to the same period of 2020, said Vega.

The index crime in 2021 also dropped by 12.65 percent while the non-index crimes were 19 percent lower.

Vega added that last year, the PRO 7 seized P837,094,007.60 worth of illegal drugs out of the 5,820 anti-criminality and law enforcement operations in the region.
