ILOILO CITY – A government-run hospital in the island-province of Guimaras has opened the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other key services.

The Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH) in the provincial capital of Jordan now also has a pulmonary unit, blood station, and CT Scan department.
“This is the beginning of the fulfillment of my dreams for the province. This was not possible during the first time I served as governor in 1998,” said Gov. JC Rahman Nava during the inauguration Tuesday, Aug. 30.
“The opening of these facilities is a step closer of achieving the goal of making DCGNPH a Level 2 hospital,” added Provincial Board Member Felipe Hilan Nava.
Both doctors by profession, the Nava brothers said the new facilities can provide better health services to residents in the five towns of the province.
DCGNPH patients with severe cases had to be transported by boat to Iloilo City to avail of life-saving medical services.
Dr. Inocensio Lopez, OIC chief of the hospital, said Guimaranons can now easily avail of quality and affordable health services.
Also present during the Tuesday inauguration was Vice Gov. John Edward Gando.
