CAMP BGEN. VICENTE LIM, Laguna -- Two robbery suspects who were believed to be operating in nearby provinces, were arrested in a joint police operation on Monday morning, Aug. 29, in San Pablo City, Laguna. Police Regional Office-4A (PRO4A) director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez identified the suspects as John Reny Gines Jose, 22, a resident of Cainta, Rizal, and Marvin Atienza Marasigan, 27, a resident of Bagumbayan, Angono Rizal. The two suspects were believed to be operating in Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Parañaque City, according to the police report. Police said the suspects were behind the early morning robbery-hold-up at Barangay Batuhan in Famy Laguna on Aug. 29, with the victim identified as Mary An Alfonzo, 40. Upon entering the victim’s house, the suspects declared a hold-up and carted away everything they could carry, including a Samsung J7 cellular phone, Huawei tablet, and a bag containing assorted IDs, then fled towards Pangil, Laguna. In Lalig, Tiaong, Quezon the same suspects arrived at the store of Ray John Colot, 36, businessman, and Richard Lozano, 32, both of Sitio Bakahan Barangay Lalig at around 10:20 p.m. on the same day. The suspects at gunpoint took the Samsung J7 cellular phone worth ₱8,000 and iPhone 10 cellular phone worth ₱50,000.00 and cash money amounting to ₱3,300. Afterward, the suspects fled toward San Pablo City, Laguna. Following the report of a concerned citizen that two armed men were seen inside an establishment, San Pablo City SWAT Team and Intelligence Operatives were able to arrest them on Aug. 29, at around 4:20 a.m. inside Walk-in Love Bar, Brgy II-F, San Pablo City. The victims from Tiaong and Famy already positively identified suspects. Based on the reports of Philippine National Police units of Lucena, Tayabas, Candelaria, and Tiaong, the suspects were also involved in a series of robbery hold ups in the said areas. Police recovered from the suspect Jose, 27 pieces assorted units of cell phones, three pieces of tablets, a pair of white Nike shoes, a black sling Lacoste bag containing a grenade, a sachet of shabu, a caliber 9mm pistol marked Norinco, a magazine, three pieces of ammunition, and money in different denominations amounting to ₱2,290. Recovered from Marasigan were a blue sling bag containing a grenade, a sachet containing shabu, cash money amounting to ₱8,400.00 in a different denomination, and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with two ammunition. The service vehicle of the suspects, a blue single motorcycle with plate ‘For Registration,’ fits the description of the get-away vehicle in different robbery incidents reported to the police. The suspects, together with the confiscated pieces of evidence, were brought to San Pablo City Police Station for proper disposition. San Pablo City prepares the criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), violation of Republic Act 8294 (Amending Law for PD 1866 pertaining to firearms and ammunition), and violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act), against the perpetrators to be filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office in San Pablo City, Laguna. Famy and Tiaong Police are also preparing various complaints against the suspects for robbery to be filed in their respective Provincial Prosecutor’s Offices.
