Muntinlupa mayor condemns ambush of Maguindanao town police chief  


Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon condemned the killing of Lt. Reynaldo Samson in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Aug. 30.

Samson was a graduate of the city-run Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) and served as a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences and president of the MPC-PLMun Alumni Association.

Samson, chief of the Ampatuan Municipal Police Station, and his driver-security were ambushed at about 9:40 a.m. in Sitio Pasio, Barangay Kapimpilan, Ampatuan, Maguindanao while on their way to serve a warrant of arrest in the area.

“Mariin kong kinukundena ang walang saysay na pagpatay sa ating kapwa Muntinlupeño na si Police Lieutenant (PLT) Reynaldo Samson (I strongly condemn the senseless killing of our fellow Muntinlupeño, Police Lieutenant (PLT) Reynaldo Samson),” said Biazon in a statement.

Biazon said he personally knew Samson, who was a former scholar of his office when he was a congressman of Muntinlupa. Biazon said he recently met Samson during the graduation ceremony of PLMun.

“Kaisa ako ng buong bansa sa panawagan ng hustisya para kay PLT. Samson (I am with the whole nation in calling for justice for PLT. Samson),” the mayor said.

PLMun mourned Samson’s passing.

"The PLMun community mourns the sudden passing of our MPC-PLMun Alumni President and a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Reynaldo O. Samson, while he was in the line of duty," according to PLMun.

It added, "Dr. Samson was one of the most accomplished graduate of the University, who served as a Police Lieutenant of the Philippine National Police and Chief of Police in Ampatuan, Maguindanao. He is also a member of the PLMun Board of Regents as the President of MPC-PLMun Alumni Association, Inc."

"Let us all extend our prayers and comfort to the bereaved family of Dr. Samson. May God's comfort and love strengthen you during this season of loss and grief. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Samson for his immeasurable and passionate service to PLMun and its alumni," PLMun added.
