Good news! PCSO to look into increasing minimum prizes of Lotto draws
Here's good news for all you Lotto (lottery) enthusiasts out there.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) told House of Representatives members Tuesday, Aug. 30, that will look into the suggestion of raising the minimum jackpot prizes of Lotto games that it regularly holds.
This juicy idea came from Valenzuela City 2nd district Rep. Eric Martinez, a deputy speaker during the previous 18th Congress. The solon was among those who attended the PCSO's briefing before the Committee on Appropriations.
In his presentation during the briefing, PCSO Chairman Junie Cua commented that their Lotto earnings are jackpot-driven--meaning, the bigger the money pot is, the higher their earnings are since more bettors will participate in their draws.
PCSO Assistant General Manager fo Charity Sector, Dr. Larry Cedro, said the minimum jackpot prize for the 6/42 draw is P6 million; for 6/45, P9 million; for 6/49, P16 million; for 6/55, P30 million; and for 6/58, P50 million.
“Taking the cue from the (PCSO) chairman (Junie Cua) na pag malaki yung premyo mas maraming tumataya (that the a bigger jackpot means more bettors), so why not give it a try, study it, na baka pwedeng yung floor prize....itaas na natin (to possibly raise the floor prize)
to encourage more bettors,” Martinez said.
By "floor prize", the solon meant the bottom or minimum prize.
“I’m concerned about the revenue...Kasi nga ang bottom line talaga ng (Because the true bottom line of) PCSO is fund generation,” Martinez added.
Cua said the PCSO will look into the “wonderful suggestion” of the Valenzuela congressman.
“Definitely that is a point well taken and we will study it. In fact, when I first assume yun din ang naisip ko eh (that also crossed my mind). So, baka pwedeng sa umpisa palang taasan na para ma-encourage na tumaya (maybe we can raise the jackpot at the start to encourage more bettors) and therefore we increase sale,” added Cua, a former Quirino congressman and governor.
