Filipina mother, daughter killed in Toronto stabbing


A Filipina and her daughter died after getting stabbed in Toronto, Canada last week.

According to the Toronto police, the incident happened in the area of Bathurst Street and Ellerslie Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. last Aug. 26.

Police initially alleged that a 46-year-old man was involved in an altercation with a 44-year-old and 20-year-old women.

It added all three knew one another.

Police later identified the victims as Elvie Sig-Od, 44, and Angelica Sig-Od, 20, both from Toronto.

The victims were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Godfrey Sig-Od, 46, former husband of Elvie, was arrested on the scene.

The suspect appeared in court the day after the incident. He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

There was no information yet on the potential motive for the killing.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up by local pastor Marvin Dolores to help the mother and daughter with their funeral expenses and bring their remains home.

“They do not have relatives here in Ontario to arrange their funeral, so as their Pastor, I decided to ask for your help to raise funds to provide them with a decent funeral and send their bodies to the Philippines.”
