Former vice president Leni Robredo on Tuesday, Aug. 30, set the record straight on Twitter over an issue that she visited the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) without an appointment and even brought a photographer with her.
She denied the tweets making their round on social media in a reply to some Twitter users.
“The truth: We wrote a formal letter addressed to Secretary Tulfo requesting for a courtesy visit. The OSEC staff got in touch with us and gave us a schedule. I went with Angat Buhay ED (Executive Director) Raffy Magno. Not one photographer from us,” she wrote.
She tweeted this as “Leni” and “Lenlen” trended on Twitter on Tuesday morning after some netizens alleged that she “sashayed” into the DSWD office, catching Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo off-guard during a meeting held last week.

“The only photographer present was the DSWD photographer. We just shared Sec Erwin Tulfo’s Facebook post. Stop spreading fake news,” Robredo, who is now leading her own non-government organization Angat Buhay, added.
On Friday, Aug. 26, Tulfo first posted a series of photos with Robredo, who he said was there to offer her volunteers’ help. The DSWD chief even thanked the former vice president for the offer.
Robredo shared the post, and wrote: “We met with DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo today to present the programs of Angat Buhay and to explore possible areas of collaboration. We look forward to working with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in uplifting the lives of our fellow Filipinos.”
During her stint as vice president, Robredo and her daughters have repeatedly been victimized by fake news and malicious posts.
