Chef Boy Logro unveiled his 6-foot veggie lumpia at this food fest

SM Hypermarket Street Food Festival makes a big comeback

One of the best ways for tourists to discover the Philippines is through its food. Every household and restaurant has an heirloom dish that captures their family’s history and the heritage of the nation. Apart from homes and other dining spots, great eats can also be seen on the streets. The country has a multitude of street food that can satisfy any craving. These humble eats became so famous that they are making their way abroad.

Nutritious and flavorful, the vegetable lumpia is one of Pinoys’ favorite savory treats. This fried spring rolls dish is made with an assortment of vegetables with mung bean sprouts as its champion ingredient. Paired with spicy vinegar, this dish is also loved for being bite-sized. But during a recent street food festival, the veggie lumpia becomes big.

Chef Boy Logro and his six-foot veggie lumpia

Kusina Master, Chef Boy Logro, unveiled his six-foot veggie lumpia during the opening of SM Hypermarket’s Street Food Festival 2022 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall last Aug.29. Also showcased during the event was a six-foot wide giant sushi platter. Joining Chef Boy were social media icons “Cooking Ina” Hazel Cheffy and Chef Marky Joseph, who shared deliciously easy recipes on stage.

Offering nothing but the best of local eats, the event marks the officially launched SM Hypermarket's two-month celebration of Philippine street food. Street Food Festival 2022 continues until today, Aug. 30. After the SM Mall of Asia launch, the food festival is heading to SM Hypermarket Fairview from Sept.16 to 18, and the SM Clark Skyline from Sept.30 to Oct. 2.
