Alyssa Valdez ruled out of ASEAN Grand Prix

Alyssa Valdez will not play in the 2022 ASEAN Grand Prix that will take place on Sept. 9 to 11 in Thailand.

Alyssa Valdez was ruled out of the ASEAN Grand Prix set on Sept. 9-11 in Thailand.

After concluding their Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup for Women campaign with a sixth place finish, the Creamline Cool Smashers, led by head coach Sherwin Meneses and team captain Jia Morado-de Guzman, confirmed their participation in the upcoming tournament.

Valdez, however, won't join the squad as she is still recovering from dengue which was the reason for her absence from the AVC tournament.

Valdez will be flying with the Philippine team in Thailand but would not be allowed to play in any of the games.

Meneses said Valdez will be present in the sideline to support the team as the Filipino spikers eye a better performance against the region's best. (Nikole Javier)
