Twenty residents of Parañaque City availed of the two-day free surgical mission at the Ospital ng Parañaque (OSPAR-1) on Aug. 27-28.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said the free surgical mission was made possible by OSPAR-1 under Dr. Jefferson Pagsisihan and the Medici Omnes Duciens fraternity and sorority in celebration of their 40th anniversary.
Olivarez said the free surgical mission was headed by Dr. Dominadir Bernillo Jr.
Pagsisihan said beneficiaries availed of the thryroidectomy procedure, a surgical removal of all or part of thyroid gland and cholecystectomy, the surgical removal of gallbladder.
He said the other patients were given herniorrhaphy surgery -- a surgical repair of a hernia in which a surgeon repairs a weakness in the abdominal wall.
The medical director said another surgery given for free was the fistulectomy, a procedure performed for the treatment of a fistula and is more commonly performed on patients with an anal fistula which forms between the skin near the end of the bowel.
Parañaque 1st district Rep. Edwin Olivarez thanked the group for choosing the OSPAR-1 in conducting the free surgical mission.
Olivarez expressed hope that the free surgical mission will be a sustainable project at the city’s public hospitals -- OSPAR 1 and 2.
