Motorcycle rider dies after crashing into parked soft drinks truck in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – A motorcycle rider died after he crashed into a wing van truck loaded with soft drinks on Circumferential Road in Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Bata here Sunday, Aug. 28, police said.

Police identified Monday, Aug. 29, the victim as Jefferson Decosta, 28, of Sagay City and temporarily residing in Barangay Estefania here.

Police Staff Sgt. Richard Dema-ala, traffic investigator of the Police Station 3, said Decosta was allegedly speeding on his way home and probably failed to notice the truck parked on the road side.

Dema-ala said truck driver Alfredo Cosio, 28, of Barangay Bata, parked the truck to have dinner nearby but he did not put an early warning device.

Decosta was wearing a helmet but due to the impact, he died on the spot, Dema-ala said.

Dema-ala said that a representative from the truck’s owner and the victim’s family had an initial discussion about the incident Sunday.
