Cua said they are exerting all efforts to make Quirino a tech hub province.

“Sa hinaharap, hindi na itatanong ng mga taga-labas na ‘may signal ba doon’? Hindi lang cellphone signal ang magiging malakas, kundi pati Wi-Fi, at iba’t-ibang tech services (In the future, nobody will ask: ‘Is there a signal in Quirino?’ Not just cellphone signal will be strong but also Wi-Fi and other tech services). We plan to be on the forefront of the digital revolution in the country,” Cua said.

Cua met experts from Amazon Web Services recently to explore collaborations that would help Quirino maximize economic opportunities provided by digital technology.

He said he is open to collaborations with the private sector, particularly with tech firms, and would ensure that the province will be able to capitalize on its technology investments.

Cua said they have heavily invested in setting up Quirino’s internet infrastructure and hoped that within his three-year administration, the construction of 400 Wi-Fi towers would be completed.

“Nariyan na ang infrastructure, kaya minabuti nating makipagpulong sa Amazon para malinang ang skills ng mga ‘kailyan’ natin sa lalawigan (The infrastructure is there so we decided to meet Amazon so that the skills of our residents would be enhanced).”

The provincial government will provide training, courses, and capacity-building for residents to raise their digital skill sets such as coding and programming.

“These skills will open doors for them so they could earn more income,” said Cua.

He said he plans to meet more representatives from the private sector for other possible partnerships.
