The Caloocan City government announced on Monday, Aug. 29, its continuous partnership with Diocese of Caloocan for the city’s drug rehabilitation process.
In line with the partnership renewal, Caloocan Diocese and Caloocan Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CADAO) held a meeting at the San Roque Cathedral in the city on Saturday, Aug. 27.
CADAO Officer-in-charge Sonny Amoyo said that as more barangays ask for CADAO service, more locals are getting assistance from the Church concerning drug problems in the community.
He also relayed to Bishop Pablo Virgilio “Ambo” David of the Caloocan Diocese the mayor’s directive to keep the list of clients’ information confidential.
“Maraming barangay officials ang nakikipag-ugnayan sa atin at mismong kay Mayor Along ukol sa sitwasyon sa kanilang mga komunidad at maraming kababayan natin ang nais magbagong buhay, sa tulong ng Simbahan, inaasahan natin na mas matutugunan po natin ang kanilang rehabilitasyon (Many barangay officials are coordinating with us and Mayor Along regarding the situation in their communities and many of our constituents want to change their lives; and with the help of the Church, we hope that we will be able to address their rehabilitation better),” OIC Amoyo said.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan expressed his gratitude for the Church’s favorable response, stressing that spiritual guidance is at the core of every rehabilitation program.
“We are happy and humbled that Bishop Ambo assured the city of continuous partnership and guidance,” the mayor said.
“The partnership of the city government and diocese has been proven to be valuable in ensuring the success of our rehabilitation program,” he added.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government-National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) recently awarded the Caloocan Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CADAO) as one of the High Functional Anti-Drug Abuse Councils in the region.
Mayor Along also assured Bishop Ambo and his constituents that the Caloocan City government shall continuously establish partnerships with organizations and improve methods for the rehabilitation, treatment, and reinstatement of drug victims. (Diann Ivy Calucin)
